ECTFE sheets for reactor vessel in the USA
Refineries with reactor vessel made out of ECTFE sheets
Location: USA
Products: ECTFE sheets, 2.3 mm
Reactor vessels for copper hydrometallurgy in the USA were needed to fulfil the requirements of copper and silver refinery.
For a copper and silver refinery in the USA a reactor vessel for the copper hydrometallurgy was needed. Outer covers of the reactor were made out of fabric backed 2.3 mm ECTFE sheets and were entirely laminated with GRP (glass-reinforced plastic). Top and the bottom parts have been vacuum formed. As well employed AGRU pipes were completely laminated with GRP.
Installations inside the vessel were done with ECTFE sheets and round bars. The vessel contains selenium in hydrochloric acid (HCl) at 90 °C as well as sulphur dioxide (SO2) and a low concentration of sulphuric acid (H2SO4). Completely welded by vessels means of hot gas welding, includes the sandwich construction ECTFE – GRP – ECTFE (technique for internal strength).
Calculated lifetime of the system in an aggressive environment (corrosion and high temperature) is about 10 to 15 years.
